Meet us

We're not what you're expecting.

We're a church born out of a collapse, not a program. We don't have a building. We don't have a polished Sunday production. What we have is a story — and a conviction that grace is the only thing that actually changes people.

What we are

A family. Not a franchise.

Amazing Grace Family Church started in a living room. Sheldon and Annette Mickelson had just come through the kind of wreckage most people don't survive — financial collapse, a federal case, a marriage that should have ended. And on the other side of all of it, God told them to build something. So they did. With whoever showed up. In whatever space was available. That's still how we operate.

Grace is the whole thing.

Not a department. Not a theme for the year. The actual foundation. Everything we do starts from the conviction that you are already loved — not because of what you've done, but because of what Jesus did.

The broken are welcome here.

Not tolerated. Not a project. Welcome. If you are in the middle of something hard — a marriage falling apart, an addiction you can't shake, a faith that feels like it's barely hanging on — this is the right place.

Founders

Sheldon and Annette Mickelson founded Amazing Grace Family Church out of the worst season of their lives.

Sheldon was a waste management entrepreneur whose company — and freedom, and family, and future — came to the edge of ruin. What they found beneath that rubble was a grace they hadn't earned and couldn't repay. They wrote about it in Beneath the Rubble: A True Story of Survival and Redemption.

Then they did the only reasonable thing a person can do after being dug out alive: they started going back for other people. A Bible study became a house church in 2015, and a house church became this.

Everything here traces back to their yes.

Joe Wood

Lead Pastor

Joe Wood is the Lead Pastor of Amazing Grace Family Church, and he's spent his life making one point in a hundred different ways: God is not who religion told you He was.

He's known worldwide for Prayers the Devil Hates — prayer that stopped sounding like begging and started sounding like a believer who knows what was already won. He's the author of Breakthrough Prayers and Declarations, The Sound of Your Breakthrough, The Lie of Lack, War Over Wealth, and Kingdom Secrets — books that drag grace out of the Sunday-school box and put it where it belongs: in your prayer life, your bank account, your marriage, your business, and your ordinary Tuesday.

Joe writes and speaks to a large online community about grace, generosity, and the mission — and he's convinced the most under-deployed army on earth is the one already holding a phone. He lives in Wellington, Florida with his wife Niki and their three kids.
